G1 Summit 2025
July 20 2025, Pakistan — In a momentous achievement, the Imagine Nepal-led Gasherbrum-I (G1) Expedition 2025 team successfully summited the 8,080-meter peak at 10:44 AM PKT on July 20, 2025. The summit team included Dr. Sashko Kedev of Macedonia, Mr. Wang Zhong of China, Dawa Gyalje Sherpa and Ngima Nuru Sherpa of Nepal.

The summit marks a historic milestone for Dr. Sashko Kedev, who has now become the first climber from Macedonia to complete all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks. G1, the 11th-highest mountain on Earth, was the final challenge on his journey through the world’s highest summits.

Dr. Sashko Kedev: A Macedonian Mountaineering Pioneer

Dr. Kedev’s accomplishment places him among the most elite climbers in the world. With G1, he has now climbed all the 14 eight-thousanders: Everest, K2, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Nanga Parbat, Annapurna, Shishapangma, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum II, and now Gasherbrum I.

Mr. Wang Zhong: A Notable Ascent Toward 14 Peaks

Also, part of the summit team, Chinese climber Mr. Wang Zhong continues his impressive progress toward the 14-peak challenge. With the successful summit of G1, he now counts nine eight-thousanders under his belt, including Everest, K2, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Manaslu, Annapurna, and now G1. Mr. Wang aims to complete the remaining five: G2, Broad Peak, Dhaulagiri, Nanga Parbat, and Shishapangma.

Dawa Gyalje Sherpa: Already completed 14 highest peaks in 2024

For Dawa Gyalje, today’s summit of Gasherbrum I marks his second ascent of the peak. Dawa is a renowned mountaineer from Rolwaling village, Nepal, who completed all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks with the summit of Shishapangma in October 2024. A highly accomplished climber, his record includes 16 ascents of Everest, 5 of Manaslu, 2 each of K2, Lhotse, Annapurna I, Broad Peak, and Gasherbrum II, and successful climbs of Makalu, Dhaulagiri, Cho Oyu, Kanchenjunga, Nanga Parbat, and Shishapangma.

Ngima Nuru Sherpa: Another Step Closer to Completing All 14

For Ngima Nuru Sherpa, a veteran high-altitude climber from Thame village in Nepal, the summit of G1 brings his total to eleven out of the fourteen 8,000-meter peaks. His previous ascents include Everest, K2, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Manaslu, Nanga Parbat, Annapurna, and Shishapangma. Now only G2, Dhaulagiri and Broad Peak remain on his list.
