G1 Expedition 2024

Today, August 8th, 2024, Dr. Tracee Lee Metcalfe, a remarkable climber from the United States, achieved a significant feat by successfully summiting Gasherbrum-I. This impressive accomplishment marked her 12th conquest of the world’s 14 highest peaks. Dr Tracee undertook this challenging ascent as part of Imagine Nepal’s 2024 Gasherbrum-I and Gasherbrum-II Expedition, led by the experienced IFMGA guide, Mr Dawa Gyalje Sherpa. Accompanied by three Sherpas, Kili Pemba Sherpa, Angdu Sherpa, and Pemba Chhri, she reached the summit at 12:15 pm Pakistan time.
An earlier attempt to Gasherbrum-I on July 27th, 2024, had to be abandoned due to adverse snow conditions. Dr Tracee Lee Metcalfe expressed her thoughts on the challenging conditions, stating, “Climb aborted. Snow was sugar, facets, hoar, completely rotten! No way to protect the climb & we have the best Sherpas.” Before that, on July 22nd, 2024, Dr. Tracee had also triumphantly scaled Gasherbrum-II.

Dr. Tracee's list of conquered 8000-meter peaks includes:
