Broad Peak 2024 Summit
We are excited to share the successful news that Dr. Tracee Lee Metcalfe, an American climber, along with Kili Pemba Sherpa and Pasang Namgel Sherpa, reached the summit of the 12th highest mountain, Broad Peak, at an elevation of 8051 meters above sea level. The group reached the summit today at 11:40 a.m. on 08 August 2024.
With the summit of Broad Peak, Dr Tracee completes her 13 of the 14 8000 meters highest peaks and becomes the only few female climbers to climb a maximum of 14 eight-thousanders from the United States. According to the newly published list of 14 8000-meter summiteers, none of the American female climbers have climbed all the 8000-meter peaks. The only remaining 8000-meter peak for Dr Tracee is the Shishapangma, the last of the 14 eight-thousanders with an elevation of 8027 meters above sea level. Dr Tracee is looking forward to climbing the last eight-thousander this September, joining the Imagine Nepal Shishapangma Expedition 2024.
This year, in 2024, Dr Tracee climbed 4 of the highest peaks, Lhotse, Gasherbrum-I (G1), Gasherbrum-II (G2) and Broad Peak today. Below is the list of 13 8000 meter peaks Dr Tracee submitted:

- 11. Broad Peak (8047m/26400ft)
- 12. Gasherbrum II (8035m/26,362ft)
- 13. Gasherbrum I (8068m/26,470ft)
Accordingly, with the summit of Broad Peak today, Kili Pemba Sherpa also completes 11 of the 14 highest peaks. Kili Pemba Sherpa is one of the 10 Nepalese climbers who made a historic ascent of Mount K2 in the winter of 2021.
For Pasang Namgel Sherpa, today’s summit marks two summits of Broad Peak in a single season. On 27 July, with the Broad Peak summit, Pasang completed all 14 highest peaks in the world and became one of the few Nepalese Sherpa to complete all 14 Peaks according to the new 14 Peaks summiteers list.
