On April 06, 2025 at 10:10 AM Nepal time, the Imagine Nepal team of 1 Chinese climber Mr Zhao YiYi and 2 Sherpas Mr Dipan Gurung and Mr Phinjo Dorjee Sherpa successfully summited Annapurna-I (8,091m), marking the first 8,000-meter summit of the Spring 2025 climbing season. This remarkable achievement was led by Imagine Nepal, which was also entrusted with the responsibility of fixing the ropes for Annapurna-I this year.

Second Attempt for Annapurna Climbing

This was the second attempt after a team of eight Chinese climbers and eight Sherpas from Imagine Nepal made their first attempt on March 26, 2025. The first attempt was aborted due to increased risks and sudden changes in weather conditions above 7,500 meters. For safety reasons, all climbers had to return to base camp.
The second attempt involved three Chinese climbers and five Sherpas, including Mr Zhao YiYi, Dipan Gurung, and Phinjo Dorje Sherpa. However, only Mr Zhao YiYi, supported by two Sherpas, reached the summit, while the others had to turn back due to deteriorating weather conditions.
The expedition began on March 10, when a team of eight Chinese climbers and ten experienced Sherpas started their ascent. After weeks of acclimatization and strategic rotations, the team completed their final rotation to Camp III (6,500 meters) on March 19, ensuring they were well-prepared for the final push to the summit.
