Everest Expedition 2024

This morning, on 12th May 2024, the first Everest Expedition team organized by Imagine Nepal completed a successful summit of Everest. This diverse team of 9 international climbers and 10 Sherpa guides reached the top between 7:50 and 11:15 am Nepal time. The climbing team includes climbers from China, the UK, Australia, and Romania who trained for months to prepare for this climb. After several days of waiting and several acclimatization rotations, despite the adverse weather conditions in the mountains of Nepal, they began their push to the summit earlier this week.

Mount Everest, located in the Himalayas on the border between Nepal and Tibet, has captured the imagination of climbers and adventurers for decades. At 29,032 feet, it is the tallest mountain in the world and remains one of the ultimate climbing challenges. Reaching the summit of Everest is a dangerous yet exhilarating feat attempted by only the most ambitious mountaineers.

The Summit Push

  • The Imagine Nepal team began the summit push on 8th May 2024, departing from Everest Base Camp at 5300 meters. After weeks of acclimatization rotations up and down the mountain, the climbers finally attempted the top. Today, at approximately 7:50 am Nepal time, the first group of Imagine Nepal expedition climbers began reaching Mt. Everest’s summit. The team of 9 international climbers and 10 Sherpa guides made their final push in the early morning hours to ascend the last few hundred meters to the top.

Despite the extreme altitude and physically demanding climb, all 19 members successfully reached the summit. The first to summit from the Imagine Nepal team were Sherpa guide Phur Galjen Sherpa, MS Guan Jing, MR Jin Haihang, and Pasang Ngima Sherpa at 7:50 am. The remaining climbers trickled in over the next few hours, each one’s joy and satisfaction palpable, with the last person making it by 11:15 am.

The climb to the top was challenging. A freezing temperature above 8000 meters made the climb difficult for a Chinese climber, Mr. Pang, Zhinan had reported to the guide that his fingers were freezing, and to avoid the risk of frostbite, he and his Sherpa turned back from halfway to the summit.
