On May 14, 2023 at 9:06 am NPT, Pasang Dawa Sherpa, also known as Pa Dawa, made history by equalizing the previous record for the most ascents of Mount Everest with Imagine Nepal. At age 46, Pa Dawa successfully climbed the mountain for the 26th time, matching the record held by Kami Rita Sherpa.
Pa Dawa is a renowned climbing guide who works with Imagine Nepal. He was born in Pangboche, a village near the Everest basecamp, and resides there with his wife and son.
Pa Dawa’s previous ascents to Everest are as follows:

- – One time in 2017, 2016, 2012, 2011, 2009, 2008, 2004, 2003, 2002, 1999, 1998
Pa Dawa is considered a hidden gem among Nepalese climbers. In 2022, he successfully climbed Everest 25 times and was looking to set a new world record for the highest number of summits on the mountain.
While Everest is his most notable accomplishment, Pa Dawa has also climbed other famous peaks. He has summited Cho Oyu, the sixth-highest mountain, five times and other 8000-meter peaks such as Lhotse and Manaslu.
Pa Dawa remains humble and dedicated to his craft despite his many accomplishments. His favourite mountain since childhood is Amadablam, just 1.5 hours away from his home. He has climbed Amadablam over 70 times.
