Thunduand his brothers hold the record for being the first siblings to have climbed Everest and toclimb together most of 8000 meters mountain by the Guinness World Records. Thundu is fromRolwaling valley and migrated to Kathmandu for monastery education. In 2004 he left his life as amonk and started his career in mountain climbing as a climbing Sherpa for the British Kanchenjungaexpedition group. He continued working with the British expedition team and made the successfulascent of mount Everest 12 times, Manaslu 5 times and Cho Oyu four times. He has also climbed othereight thousand meters mountains, such as Dhaulagiri, Sishapangma and Gasherbrum-II.In addition,Thunduis one of the Sherpa of a Russian climber, Rustam Nabiev, who summited Manasluin 2021despite being a double amputee.His cheerful personality helps heal the team members’ exhaustionafter a long day’s climb.
