Rope Fixing team Annapurna
On March 19, the Imagine Nepal Annapurna Expedition 2025 team successfully completed the crucial rope-fixing task to Camp III at an elevation of 6,500 meters. This marks a significant milestone in the ascent, as this section is considered one of the most challenging and hazardous on Mount Annapurna.

Progress and Preparation

Our team, consisting of eight Chinese climbers and ten experienced Sherpas, arrived at Annapurna Base Camp on March 10. Before reaching base camp, they undertook a week of trekking and training to acclimatize. Once settled, they conducted the traditional Puja ceremony, an important ritual in Himalayan expeditions, seeking blessings for a safe and successful climb. The team also completed a crucial training rotation up to Camp II (5,500 meters), ensuring they are well-prepared for the higher sections of the mountain.
After completing the rope-fixing to Camp III, all climbers and Sherpas have now returned to base camp to rest and prepare for the final summit push. The team is carefully monitoring the weather and is expected to attempt the summit within the next 10 days when a suitable window appears.

A Historic Year for Mountaineering

This year holds special significance in the history of mountaineering, as it marks the 75th anniversary of the first human summit of an 8,000-meter peak. In 1950, French climbers Maurice Herzog and Louis Lachenal made history by successfully reaching the summit of Annapurna, setting a milestone in high-altitude mountaineering. To commemorate this remarkable achievement, more than 70 climbers from around the world have gathered to challenge Annapurna this season, including several passionate Chinese mountaineers.
As the Imagine Nepal team prepares for the ultimate challenge, we extend our best wishes for a safe and successful ascent. Let’s hope for favorable weather and a triumphant summit for all involved!
